I Took The Challenge

At our first Family Team Development Committee Meeting, I had set a goal to raise $2,500., I never actually thought I would reach that goal. Over the past 7 years the most my team had ever raised in any given year was about $700.

I began to solicit my friends and co-workers for donations and asked them if they would like to register to be a walker on my team. Once my friends registered to walk and support me, I felt like, I could do this!

Opportunities started presenting themselves: a former employer reached out to me to ask me to do some consulting work for them, I accepted and this gave me a chance to ask them to be a corporate sponsor for my team. They agreed to sponsor my team and I was off to a good start.

My father's employer who he has been with for 30 years, also agreed to be a corporate sponsor and my co-worker/team member was able to secure two additional corporate sponsors for the team. I was so excited! In no time, we had raised $2,200 and had a total of 6 walkers.

I was so grateful to my friends, family, and community for helping me reach this goal.

March of Dimes - March for Babies 2013

What an honor it was to be on the March of Dimes - March for Babies Family Team Development Committee this year.

An opportunity for me to meet and work with several other great moms as we all strive to raise awareness and support for our family teams. But for me it was something bigger than just sharing fundraising ideas with the group, for me it was the chance to do something even greater than I had in previous years with March for Babies. I felt empowered by my Director's leadership. And I surrounded myself with strong, supportive women who became my team members and would walk along side me.
